Vision and Mission

“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men. You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before me, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” - Matthew 5:13-16

Citadel of Faith Covenant Church is a dynamic multicultural ministry serving God in the heart of Detroit, Michigan. The word, Citadel means a fortress that sits on the commanding height of the city for it’s safety and defense. Our hope is to be a church where people who are hurting, distressed, confused—rich or poor, of all races and cultures—would come to seek answers from the word of God that are relevant to the issues of their lives.

To attract those who are in need of God’s manifest power in their lives, we reflect the light of God through sincere, consistent ministry in the city. As we develop genuine relationships, and serve one another, our works give glory to God, and connect people to Him. The result: an authentic community where lives are changed, and the power of God transforms our community, our city and our world.

We accomplish this through our mission, which is to Reverence God through dynamic corporate worship and relevant preaching, Raise Christians using creative methods in equipping our members for the work of the ministry, Reach People through programs and outreaches which bring about spiritual and social change, and Release Leaders to plant their gifts in other churches.

What We Believe

o The Bible is the only perfect rule for faith and conduct.

o The plan of God is revealed through His word.

o The local church is both autonomous and accountable.

o Jesus was born of a virgin, physically died on the cross and rose from the dead.

o Salvation is eternal and cannot be lost; the Holy Spirit fully indwells the believer upon conversion based upon yielding to His will.

o Manifestations of the Holy Spirit through the believer edifies the Body of Christ through spiritual gifts.

Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC) is a rapidly growing multi-ethnic denomination in the United States and Canada with ministries on five continents of the world. Founded in 1885 by Swedish Immigrants, the ECC values the Bible as the Word of God, the gift of God's grace and ever-deepening spiritual life that comes through faith in Jesus Christ, the importance of extending God's love and compassion to a hurting world, and the strength that comes from unity within diversity.
